The 2023 Mazda CX-9 is equipped with a 2.5-liter Turbo Inline-4 engine that generates 227 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the 2023 Mazda CX-9, the 2023 Honda CR-V is available with a more modest 1.5-liter Turbo Inline-4 engine that has a maximum power of 190 hp and 179 pound-feet of torque. Furthermore, the maximum towing capacity of the base trims of these two SUVs differs significantly, as evident from the table.  

Regarding the fuel efficiency of the 2023 Honda CR-V, it’s slightly better than the 2023 Mazda CX-9, but the latter has a 19.5-gallon fuel tank compared to the 14-gallon fuel tank of the 2023 Honda CR-V.
