An Overview of the New Features Added to the 2020 Mazda CX-9
With the coming of the new year, the Mazda brand has released additional models that improved upon the already-strong class of 2019 models. One of these models has been the 2020 Mazda CX-9, found right here at Tuttle-Click Mazda. We decided to take a closer look at what’s been added to the CX-9 – keep reading for the breakdown!
Added Engine Specifications and Safety Features for the 2020 Mazda CX-9
With this year’s new model, Mazda enthusiasts can find some slight upgrades to the engine as well as some standardized safety technology to help on the road. Though the 2.5L Turbo engine remains the same, using premium fuel allows the engine to pump out 250 horsepower with up to 320 ft.-lbs. of torque. Meanwhile, a list of i-Activsense® safety technology has been added to all models:
- Lane Departure Warning System & Lane-Keep Assist
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Smart City Brake Support
- Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go Function
A new traction control system, called “Off-Road Traction Assist,” has also been added to the new model. Instead of using a button to deactivate the traction control, a button would be pressed to cause the system to stop restricting engine torque while applying braking without traction.
Interior Additions to the 2020 Mazda CX-9
Inside the cabin, the 2020 Mazda CX-9 also gets some upgrades from the previous year’s model. One of the flashier additions comes in the second-row captain’s chairs, which can also have heated seating capabilities. The seats will also be power-adjustable, so rear passengers will have more control over their comfortability. Another exciting addition is the 9.0-inch touchscreen display – the largest screen option found in any Mazda model.
Overall, the additions to the 2020 Mazda CX-9 make the new model make up for the slight price increase. From new standard features and improved engine performance to interior changes and larger infotainment screen, the new model is a solid purchase for anyone interested in a three-row SUV.
