No matter what you drive, safety should be your top priority. Driving is an inherently dangerous thing to do. After all, it involves moving a multi-thousand-pound piece of metal at high speeds. Of course it’s dangerous. But with the right technology and know-how, it is perfectly safe. Check out some of the safety features included on the 2020 Mazda3.

Safety technology on the 2020 Mazda3

Adaptive front-lighting

This available feature is nothing short of a modern marvel. As you turn around dark corners, the adaptive front lighting system allows your headlights to pivot. This gives you much greater visibility. From the outside, it may not seem like much, but you will certainly appreciate adaptive front lighting when you’re behind the wheel.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control

MRCC, as it is known, comes standard on all 2020 models. This feature lets drivers set a following distance rather than a constant speed. Radar cameras watch the road ahead and determine whether your car should speed up or slow down, according to your following distance settings.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert

These two systems work together to heighten your awareness. Using radar, the Mazda3 can detect whenever a vehicle is in your blind spot and give you visual and audible warnings. Your corresponding sideview mirror’s indicator light will notify you when your blind spot is compromised. It is still important to check your blind spot any time you change lanes or turn.

Driver attention alert

If the Mazda3 senses that you are drowsy or aren’t paying full attention to the road, it will give you an audible warning. This normally comes up on longer drives. If you have been driving steady for more than an hour and a half or two hours, this system will remind you to take a short break so you can keep your focus.
